3 Tips for Designing the Perfect Packaging

Product packaging is just as important to your brand as the treats, toys or food you’re putting in it. Everyone knows that product packaging has a huge influence on sales and catching consumers attention, but what about after the sale? Here are three valuable tips on how to design packaging that builds confidence in consumers and keeps them coming back for more.
 


#1. Tell Your Story and Connect with Your Customers
The most obvious thing to include on your product packaging is your story. Make sure you tell customers what your business’s goals are and why you’re in business. Make it abundantly clear!

Are your products or treats Made in the USA? Is your business women-owned? Did you start out making treats from your kitchen and your business took off? Tell the consumers all of that! Add a short paragraph on the back of your package that tells your story.

If you’re a pet treat business that focuses on healthy, and simple treats, say that. Make sure you have call outs on the front and back of your packaging that are detailed and show what makes your brand unique.


#2. Provide a Clear Call to Action
If you want to keep your customers engaged, make it easy for them. In very clear terms, tell your customers what to do next on your packaging. Send them to your website, where they can sign up for 15% off of their first order; or ask them to take a picture of your product in action and provide fun a hashtag for your customer to use when sharing the photo online. Getting your customers to go online to check out your other products or to engage with you on social media will get them halfway to their next purchase. Make sure you tell them exactly what you want them to do next.


#3. Make Sure You Follow Up!
The most important thing to make sure your business does is follow through on your promises. If you’re asking customers to share photos online with your hashtag, have someone from your team monitoring Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for those hashtags and engaging and sharing those photos. If you’re asking customers to sign up for your email list on your website to receive coupons, take a look at your website and make sure visitors can easily find the location to sign up and that they actually receive the promised coupon code.
