Catwoman's Got Nothing on Newest Dark Knight Villain
Fans of Batman and The Dark Knight Trilogy have become accustomed to their favorite villains being spoofed. The most recent film in the series, The Dark Knight Rises, featured actor Tom Hardy as the villain Bane, and his take on the character has launched more than a few parodies. Even though the stunning conclusion to the trilogy was released almost two years ago, fans are still coming up with clever plays on the plot and iconic characters. Just last week YouTube user Rob Rants posted a video called "BaneCat" in which a pet owner is terrorized by his cat, who happens to be sporting a Bane mask.
For those not familiar with the film, Bane wears a distinctive mask that distorts his voice. BaneCat features an ordinary cat wearing a similar contraption while making life miserable for its owner. The video starts out simply enough—we first see BaneCat (a.k.a. Peanut) when his owner is putting his dog into a carrier to bring him to the vet. In the scenes that follow, BaneCat sneaks into his owner’s room in the middle of the night, breaks plates, tosses a box of his toys and more—all the while employing lines from the film to supplement the carnage.
Finally, the feline's owner tries to sell him, only to be found out by his pet-turned-nemesis who confronts him. Staying true to comic book style, the video ends in a cliffhanger and Rob Rants lets readers know in the description that this bit may become a series. I don't know about you, but I'll be subscribing.
Editor's note: For anyone concerned about the mask used in the BaneCat video, the folks at Rob Rants made a behind-the-scenes video to assure viewers that the cat was not abused in the name of comedy.
