Sumit Sethi, president of Indipets, Inc., discusses how his company is nourishing the bottom line of pet specialty retailers with a top-notch selection of functional and stylish pet bowls, feeders and accessories.
Pet Business: Tell us about Indipets. How did the company get started? What inspired you to get into the pet business?
Sumit Sethi: Indipets, Inc. is a privately owned company that was established in 2004. Our love for pets brought us in to this business. We market products under the Indipets brand, which includes bowls and feeders for dogs and cats. Through the years, Indipets has earned the trust and appreciation of our customers. Indipets is known for its great quality, reasonable prices and excellent customer service.
PB: How does your approach set you apart from other companies that make pet bowls, feeders and accessories?
Sethi: We continue to provide pet owners and their pets with the absolute best consumer value and service in the pet industry while never compromising with quality and customer service. We truly stand behind our products.
We are always looking to develop new products. Our efforts are focused toward innovating unique products and new designs for pets by analyzing the latest market trends. We design and sell products that are durable, unique and enhance the life of pet.
PB: What are some of your perennially most popular products? What makes these products stand out in the marketplace?
Sethi: Our most popular products include our Slow Feed Dishes, which feature a matt finish on the outside, a gloss finish on the inside and a silicon base. These unique stainless steel dishes have a dome in the middle that keeps food to the sides of the bowl, so pets cannot take huge gulps. The silicon rubber ring on bottom prevents sliding and tipping.
Our Heavy/Premium Dishes with silicon bases are heavyweight, solid, premium stainless steel dog bowls that feature a bonded, non-skid rubber bottom prevents sliding.
Super Max Bowls by Indipets are made with extra heavy duty, sand-casted aluminum construction and feature simple designs on brightly colored ceramic-like interiors. They are available in a variety of styles and colors to fit into any pet owner’s home.
PB: What are your newest product introductions? What are the key features of these products?
Sethi: Our new Super Max Square Bowl is made with extra-heavy duty, sand-casted aluminum construction with brightly colored ceramic-like interiors. It comes in two outside finishes—hammered and texture.
PB: Beyond offering retailers a well-rounded lineup of high-quality products, how does Indipets help retailers drive sales? What type of sales and marketing support do you offer?
Sethi: Indipets offers both single-sided and double-sided display racks that hold 36, 144 or 288 feeding dishes. These high-quality displays save shelf space and boost sales.
PB: What are some of the key trends in the feeding products category?
Sethi: Many of the new, innovative designs in the bowl, feeder and waterer market tackle specific problems that pet owners have with their current feeding options. For example, bowls designed to improve digestion and/or reduce neck strain are very popular with pet owners.
Elevated food and water bowls are still very popular, especially for large-breed dogs. We are also starting to see a growing demand for heavier feeders and waterers, which prevent the bowls from moving with more aggressive pets.
Finally, made In USA diners are highly on trend right now. Pet owners simply love the way they are handcrafted.
PB: What does the future hold for Indipets?
Sethi: Our goal is to become a world-renowned company by continuous product development and innovations.
