Zoomark International Organizes ‘Made in Italy’ Pavilion

Zoomark International (booth 4570) is featuring the first-ever ‘Made in Italy’ Pavilion at Global Pet Expo this year. The pavilion, which is located within the International Pavilion, includes 12 Italian manufacturers, including Agras Delic SpA, Bruno Dalla Grana Mangimi Srl, Chemi-Vit Srl, Dorado Srl, Guidolin Gianni, IMAC Srl, IV San Bernard Srl, Mugue Srl, Oceanlife Srl and PetitAmis Sas.

“Our participation in Global Pet Expo 2016 with a delegation of Italian manufacturers is only the first of a number of actions that we are planning for the future and will involve other leading trade events worldwide,” said Giuseppe Pierini of Promopet, Zoomark International’s managing and operating secretariat. “Indeed, one of our goals for Zoomark International 2017 is to further increase the number of our international exhibitors and buyers.”

Zoomark International, the only international pet industry trade show in Italy and the second most important in Europe, will take place in Bologna, Italy, on May 11-14, 2017. It is co-organized by Promopet and BolognaFiere.

Heavy Duty Dining

Super Max bowls by Indipets Inc. (booth 2847) are made with extra heavy-duty sand-casted aluminum construction and feature simple designs on brightly colored ceramic-like interiors. The bacteria-resistant bowls are available in six colors and a variety of sizes.

Sentiments Inc. Partners with Disney

Sentiments Inc. (booth 2379) has partnered with Disney Consumer Products to create a line of Disney-inspired pet beds, toys and feeders for dogs and cats. The product line will span a range of Disney franchises including Mickey and Minnie, Frozen, Princess, 101 Dalmations, Cars and upcoming live action films.

“We are thrilled to develop a comprehensive line of Disney products that are relevant and compelling 365 days of the year,” said Sherry Samani, Sentiments founder and CEO.

The line is available to preview at Global Pet Expo.

Cozy Collection

The new Mutt Nation collection from Petmate (booth 2935) includes a faux leather lounger with Dig & Burrow shearling interior, providing pets with a cozy place to rest while capturing a warm and weathered Americana look. The collection’s faded and distressed bandana-pattern print collars offer country chic style for dogs of all sizes. The molded rubber Mutt Nation pink guitar is a durable, do-it-all toy that can be stuffed with treats or other toys for added interest, while the faux-suede tambourine toy features a bohemian, hand-crafted look and feel, as well as a large squeaker in the top.

Pro Tennis Player John Isner Named A Nulo Ambassador

Top-ranked American tennis player John Isner and his dog, Magill, have been named as ambassadors for Nulo Pet Food (booth 751).

“As much as I train on the court, off the court and in the gym, nutrition is absolutely everything to my performance,” Isner said. “I want to play professional tennis as long as I can, which means I need to take care of my body in all the right ways. I have this same mindset when it comes to my dog Magill, which is why I decided to partner with Nulo. Six years from now, I want him to be running on the tennis court, chasing balls the same way he is today.”

In addition to an ambassadorship, Nulo is teaming up with Isner for an exclusive Aces for Animals campaign. Ranked second in 2015 on the ATP World Tour for number of aces served with 1,260 aces, Isner’s dominant serve is one of the toughest to return in the world. In 2016, Nulo will donate 10 meals of pet food to a local animal shelter for every ace that John serves at select ATP World Tour events.

“We could not be more excited to have a world-class athlete like John helping to raise awareness for premium pet nutrition,” said Michael Landa, Nulo’s founder and CEO. “Not only is John an incredible athlete, but his desire to make a difference off the court exemplifies what Nulo represents—the passion to inspire others to live active, healthy lives and provide pets the same opportunity”.

Pet Life Launches Vitawag Liquid Supplement Line

Cushioned Comfort

PetMats, from WellnessMats (booth 5490), evenly distribute weight for better joint and orthopedic support, helping aging dogs and those with painful conditions like arthritis and hip dysplasia. Suitable for any size dog, the mat contours the bone to prevent pressure sores and has a cushioned but firm surface to provide a sure footing. It has a beveled edge to prevent chewing and tripping, will never decompress, is antimicrobial and easy to wipe clean with most disinfectants. The smooth but cushioned surface insulates against hot and cold and provides soothing, calming comfort. The product is 100-percent recyclable and made in America.

Southeast Pet Now Owned By its Employees

Effective December 31, 2015, distributor Southeast Pet (booth 975) became an employee-owned company through an employee stock ownership program.

“Like so many other distributors, we were approached numerous times with opportunities to sell the business,” said Greg Judge, CEO and co-founder. “Regardless of the industry, acquisitions often result in consolidating and downsizing. I couldn’t bear the thought of seeing team members that have worked for us for so long, some 20-plus and some 30-plus years, lose their jobs. Southeast Pet means too much to me to let that happen. Our customers, many of them longtime friends, have made it clear that they want to see Southeast Pet remain their independent pet supply distributor.

“Selling the business to the well-deserving Southeast Pet team was the best way that I could accomplish everything that I was looking to achieve.”

Ryan Judge, the company president, explained that Greg Judge will remain in charge as ownership transitions over to the team.

“In terms of company leadership, nothing will be changing for the foreseeable future,” he said. “[Greg] will transition more and more responsibility to the Southeast Pet leadership over time. I plan on remaining with the business, and I’m very excited about the future of Southeast Pet.”
