CocoChew Introduces Tooth Brushing Toy

CocoChew is a 100 percent all-natural dog toy company that uses coconut husk to make sustainable toys with dental benefits.

The company was founded by four graduates of the University of New Hampshire who noticed a major oversight in the pet industry pertaining to the dental health of their dogs.

When CocoChew co-founder and CEO Chip Linton was visiting a friend in Maui, he noticed many of the dogs on the beaches love chewing on coconuts. Curious, he decided to consult with local veterinarians on the island to find if there were any dental benefits to the dogs as they chewed on the fibers. He learned that the fibers were incredibly effective in scrubbing dogs’ teeth in the same way a toothbrush would.

“We’ve found that not only do dog’s teeth benefit from the material, but they also love chewing on the fibers, said Linton. The texture mimics that of bark on a stick. Our idea was simple: let’s make brushing your dog’s teeth fun, rather than inconvenient, by creating toys that do the work for the owner.”

CocoChew currently offers two different product designs that come in small and large sizes. The CocoChew Classic and CocoChew Junior resemble traditional rope toys for tug o’war. The durable, water resistant coconut husk does not get soggy. The CocoBall Large and Small are tightly wound and extremely durable. They are made entirely from 100 percent chemical-free, sustainably-sourced coconut husk with no rubber or plastic core.

"We believe our dogs deserve the very best,” said Linton. "Our customers like CocoChew because they know exactly what is in our products. They are 100 percent natural, meaning there is no dye, plastic or chemicals. Furthermore, our customers know that when their dog is chewing on the CocoChew, the toy is actively scrubbing their dog's teeth!"
