Crowdfund Craze

Pet-related campaigns take over crowdfunding websites.

Places like Kickstarter, GoFundMe and Indiegogo are where amateur entrepreneurs become successful businesspeople—if they play their cards right.

Crowdfunding sites allow any user to pitch a cause they see worthy of funding and are increasingly popular among pet product inventors. For different increments of donation, backers of the project are promised different gifts, usually involving receiving the product at hand once it’s made and delivered. The higher the donation, the more extravagant the gift.

2016 saw a slew of pet-related crowdfunding campaigns go completely funded and beyond, and some that are still racing against the clock to meet their funding goals. On Kickstarter, users will only receive their donations if their complete goal is met by the set date. On other sites like Indiegogo and GoFundMe, stakes are a little lower, as users collect the money regardless of if they meet their final goal.
