Why it works: Not content to let other retailers hog the spotlight on Black Friday, Royal Pets Market, which operates two pet stores/resorts—in Carrollwood and Palm Harbor, Fla.—is getting in on the official kick off of the holiday shopping season. However, Royal Pets Market understands the frenzied rush that shoppers will be in and is sure to point out that the bargains found in its stores will be available all weekend.

Why it works: When the mercury drops as autumn turns into winter, it is a good idea to remind pet owners that their furry friends will need an extra layer of warmth when venturing outdoors. Why it works: Obviously, Mouthfuls listened to its customers when they asked the retailer to add small animal products to its offerings—which is great. But doing so would be for naught without spreading the word that these products have arrived. In addition, the retailer smartly directed customers to its resident small-animal expert, in case they need guidance.
