Freshpet, Inc. will expand its pet food production operations at its current location in the Lehigh Valley. With $84 million invested in the project, the company aims to make renovations, build an addition, purchase new equipment and create 200 new jobs total, with 100 expected within the first three years and further job growth once the facility is completed. Freshpet currently operates in a 100,000 square-foot facility on about 15 acres of property.

“The rapid growth of the Freshpet brand behind requires us to bring additional capacity by mid-to-late 2020 to support our continued growth and enable us to serve more pets,” said Billy Cyr, CEO of Freshpet. “It also allows us to provide more career opportunities for the dedicated and talented employees who have helped deliver the success we have had so far.”

The state and local government supported project is set to begin the second of 2020.
