Health Extension Acquires Ancestry Pet Food

Health Extension Pet Care revealed it acquired Ancestry Pet Food.

Founded in 2001, Ancestry adheres to the same core values as Health Extension, with quality ingredients and a commitment to support the independent pet retailer.

“Ancestry Pet Food is a well-established brand that falls directly in line with our own ‘pets first’ philosophy and commitment to quality,” said Brad Gruber, president of Health Extension. “We can leverage Health Extension’s wealth of experience in product development, brand building and worldwide distribution to build the Ancestry brand within the independent pet channel.”

Ancestry pet food (which will continue to carry the Ancestry name) will be offered exclusively to independent retailers. As part of the acquisition, Health Extension also acquired Sammy Snacks, Ancestry’s popular line of human-grade treats.

Ancestry’s current president, Jeff Lysak, will join Health Extension as a director to oversee the brand’s expansion.
