Link AKC Makes Debut with Smart Collar

Link AKC, a company dedicated to improving the bond between dog and owner, has unveiled its LINK AKC smart collar and app. The collar is the only convex-shaped smart device designed to comfortable fit the natural shape of a dog’s neck, and the app helps owners take a more informed and active role in managing their dogs’ wellbeing.

"We feel strongly that the growing market of passionate and dedicated dog owners deserves technology that actually fits their lifestyle, and that of their dogs,” said Michael Basone, chief operating officer of Link AKC. “We designed the LINK AKC smart collar with a distinct purpose to create a bridge that will take the bond between dog and human to new levels. We can also say with confidence that there's nothing quite like the LINK AKC smart collar in the market today, and that we plan to be the leader in a new, but rapidly growing category."

The collar, endorsed by the American Kennel Club, has GPS and location tracking capabilities, as well as activity monitoring and insights. A remote-controlled light on the collar can help owners find dogs in the dark, and a temperature sensor alerts owners when the dog is in an environment that may be too hot or cold.

Included with the smart collar is a base station that creates a virtual fence or safe “home” zone for the dog via a Bluetooth beacon to the collar. It also charges the smart collar and can be used to charge the owner’s cell phone.
