PIDA Adds Shorter Training Courses to Pet Store Pro

Pet Store Pro, the free online training tool for retailers developed by the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA), will introduce three “micro” courses to its offerings in 2015. The shorter courses are designed to be completed in about 15 minutes and applied immediately on the sales floor. Two courses, including Suggestive Selling for Associates and Cashier Basics for Associates, are available for associates, while storeowners and managers can use the Social Media Marketing course.

Suggestive Selling for Associates explains how to increase total ticket value and provide great customer service. Associates will learn four specific suggestive selling techniques and how each offers customers convenient ways to save time and money.

Cashier Basics for Associates teaches primary responsibilities at the point of sale, including balancing interpersonal skills while following store policies to create a positive impression on customers. The course applies to any retail point-of-sale (POS) system. Lessons focus on how to process different types of transactions, assist customers and handle merchandise properly.

Social Media Marketing provides specific tactics and delivery strategies to save time and extend the impact of social media marketing. Retailers will learn how to improve customer engagement and quickly create great posts to make their social media campaigns more successful.

In addition to three new micro chapters, Pet Store Pro has divided every course in its current curriculum into shorter, self-contained sections that each take approximately one hour to complete. Training managers can customize curriculum by assigning an entire chapter or only the sections that apply to their business.
