PetHub Improves Signal Tag Design and Packaging
PetHub has improved the design and packaging of its Signal Tag, which was previously only available to consumers through the company’s website.
Design updates included making some firmware and software updates that improved performance and battery life. Also, some hardware adjustments were made to make the battery casing more waterproof and airtight.
Also, due to the overwhelming request from Beta-testers, PetHub put the profile QR and PetHub’s 24/7 Call-Center phone number on the Signal tag, so it would have the exact same external information of all other PetHub tags. The change meant the company had to completely redo the outside design.
The company also reworked the internal packaging to be recyclable. It is now made with molded plastic, rather than the foam form it was previously packaged in, which was not recyclable in many communities. The forms also hold the tag and the battery compartment key better—the key previously had a tendency to come loose and rattle around in the package, and risk being easily lost during opening the box.
The Signal Tag also features improved battery life, Bluetooth Low Energy (4.0-enabled), a motion-tracking device to create a “virtual fence” with location-based alerts, an easy-to-use range finder with 150-500-ft. range (dependent upon phone) and a quick-activating flashing light to help locate a pet in the dark.
“The Signal Tag combines the most effective elements of lost pet prevention and recovery tools, and adds new features that underscore PetHub’s dedication to helping pet owners find their lost pets as quickly as possible,” said PetHub, Inc. founder and CEO Tom Arnold. “Too many pets go missing every year. The statistics are daunting. Because of that, we at PetHub were determined to build a system that would help solve this challenge and provide the best possible care for pets.”
