National Puppy Day is Everyday

We at Pet Business want to wish you a very Happy National Puppy Day! Yes, we do know that yesterday was the official Puppy Day, but, in our book, everyday is puppy day.

Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of National Puppy Day, a holiday founded by pet and family lifestyle expert Colleen Paige to promote puppy adoption. It is a welcome addition to the roster of pet-related national holidays designed to raise awareness of pet issues, such as proper care, animal health and responsible breeding.  Of course, those of us in the pet industry keep these issues top of mind all year round.

Our team was in an extreme state of puppy bliss last week, as the aisles of Global Pet Expo offered plenty of opportunities to commune with puppies. Nestlé Purina, as usual, delighted visitors with two pens full of puppy joy, and companies such as Multipet, Fetch…for Pets! and Carlson featured adoption events at their booths. And other companies, such as Outward Hound, were wise to feature puppy mascots to help promote their brands.

While not everyone was so fortunate to leave the show with a newly adopted dog, we did come home with some very adorable photographic keepsakes from our time there this year.

Take a look at these little ones who serve as daily reminders of why this business generates as much passion and joy as it does revenue.
