Nestlé Reportedly in Talks to Buy Champion Petfoods



The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Nestlé is in talks to acquire a majority stake in Champion Petfoods for more than $2 billion. Citing "people familiar with the matter," the report warns that the talks could still break down before a deal is completed.


A favorite among independent pet specialty retailers because of its commitment to this retail segment, Champion produces dog and cat food under the Orijen and Acana brands.
