Pet Business offers a look at some notable social media posts from pet specialty retailers, as well as our own commentary on what we think makes these posts work. Here are some recent examples:

Why it works: These two tweets, posted about a week apart, reveal that Animart is actively engaging the next generation of pet owners. Offering kids opportunities to enjoy animal-themed movies and books in the store is a great way to expose youngsters not only to pets, but also to their friendly, neighborhood pet retailer.

Why it works: These two Twitter posts bookended a 15-day period during which That Fish Place - That Pet Place published 12 different pet-related articles on the blog section of its website. Topics covered in the retailer’s blog ran the gamut from dealing with a dog that has been quilled by a porcupine to caring for emerald tree boas to keeping rats as pets. These blog posts, combined with numerous links to useful articles on other websites, make this retailer’s Twitter feed a great information resource for pet owners.
