PIJAC is hosting three events at this week's Global Pet Expo that are open to both attendees and the press.

The PIJAC Annual Meeting is Tuesday, March 21 from 1-5 p.m in room W208B. At this meeting, PIJAC members will announce the results of its annual board elections. The board will elect the officer team for the coming year, hear from PIJAC staff on activities carried out over the past year and discuss plans for the coming year. PIJAC staff will also discuss the results of the pet industry's economic impact study, an expanded communications strategy and more.

The Small Animal Care Standards Discussion is Wednesday, March 22 from 2-3 p.m. in room W203A. The meeting will present the standards drafted by PIJAC since SuperZoo. Industry members are encouraged to attend, provide feedback and ask questions.

The Conversation with APHIS Deputy Administrator of Animal Care, Bernadette Juarez, is Thursday, March 23 from 10-11 a.m. in room W203A. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and its Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) oversee many breeders and distributors. To facilitate greater understanding between the USDA and the pet industry, PIJAC will moderate a discussion with Juarez. The discussion will include a Q&A and cover the USDA's recent decision to remove inspection reports and other documents from its website.
