P.L.A.Y. Recognized as a “Best For The World” B Corporation

P.L.A.Y. (Pet Lifestyle and You), a Certified B Corporation, has been recognized in the 2019 Best For The World in the Changemaker and Governance categories.

P.L.A.Y. earned the honor because of its overall mission, ethics, accountability, and transparency, as well as commitment to using business as a force for good. B Corps that earn the designation as a “Changemaker” set a gold standard for managing and improving their business’ social and environmental impact over time. Ranking in the top 10 percent of all B Corps for its governance impact, P.L.A.Y. has also been recognized for its positive impact in its innovative governance structures to protect the mission of its business.

Best For The World recognition is administered by B Lab, the global nonprofit that certifies and supports Certified B Corporations, which are for-profit companies dedicated to using business as a force for good. Today there are 3,000 Certified B Corporations across 64 countries and 150 industries, unified by one common goal: to redefine success in business. B Corps meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corp Certification doesn’t just evaluate a product or service, it assesses the overall positive impact of the company that stands behind it. Using the B Impact Assessment, B Lab evaluates how a company’s operations and business model impact its workers, community, environment and customers. To achieve the B Corp Certification, a company must achieve a score of at least 80 points on the assessment.

“We are incredibly proud and honored to receive this recognition,” said Will Chen, CEO and co-founder of P.L.A.Y. “Eight years ago, we dreamt of creating a company that not only met the needs of modern pet parents, but that also would change the world one dog bed at a time. This honor shows that we are truly meeting our mission to make things better for pets, people and the planet through using business as a force for good. But, none of this would be possible without our loyal fans. Whether it's our 4 million plastic bottles saved, our thousands of beds donated to shelters in need, or our giving back partnerships with wildlife funds around the world - none of that would matter without those who have supported P.L.A.Y. from the beginning.”

There were 1,000 B Corps from 44 countries named to the 2019 Best For The World lists, including Patagonia, Beautycounter, Dr. Bronner’s, TOMS, Seventh Generation, and Greyston Bakery. The 2019 Best For The World honorees are determined based on the verified B Impact Assessments of Certified B Corporations.
