Pet Business Honors Kriser's as Retailer of the Year

Pet Business honored Kriser's with an exclusive Retailer of the Year dinner held at this year's SuperZoo in Las Vegas. The event, which took place after the exhibition floor closed on day one of the trade show, gathered members of the Kriser's team along with key vendors to celebrate the success of the 55-store pet specialty chain, which operates locations across nine markets in Chicago, Southern California, Texas, Colorado, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

According to Mark Kalaygian, publishing director and editor in chief of Pet Business, it is a well-deserved honor that was earned by founder Brad Kriser's unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of pets by providing their owners with a warm, inviting environment to shop for high-quality products.

"For the past 12 years, Brad Kriser has been quite visionary in his approach to growing a successful retail brand," he said. "From the beginning, he understood that providing pet owners with a friendly, reliable place to get natural, healthy food and supplies for their animal companions--as well as sound pet care advice--is a model that can work anywhere."

Also noted was the Kriser's chain's ability to expand without losing the sensibilities and atmosphere of a small, local pet store.

"Whether he's getting on the floor with a customer's pet or expressing a genuine interest in how a member of a store's grooming team is doing, Brad operates Kriser's more like a mom-and-pop pet shop than a large and growing chain," said Kalaygian.

In his speech to attendees, Kriser was quick to credit the hard work and dedication of his team for the success of the chain. “I am not going to stand up here and take all of the credit," he said. "The family at Kriser’s is extraordinarily dedicated to our mission and without them this would not have been able to happen. They are all an inspiration to me each and every day."

Pet Business thanks all of the sponsors that made this year's Retailer of the Year program possible—Animal Supply Company, Chasing Our Tails, Champion Petfoods, Earth Animal, Jax & Bones, Pet Food Experts, Pet Releaf, Playology, Stella & Chewy's, United Pacific Pet and Ziwi.
