Petland Ranked as Top Global Franchise

Entrepreneur Magazine included Petland in its rankings of the top Global Franchises. It placed Petland at #20, up from #32 last year and #190 in 2016. Earlier this year, Petland ranked 209 overall in Entrepreneur Magazine's 38th Annual Franchise 500, a ranking of North American franchises.

"It is an incredible honor to be recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as a top franchise across the globe and ranked with the likes of McDonalds, H&R Block, Denny's and Subway," said Petland, Inc. president and CEO Joe Watson. "This acknowledgement demonstrates the universal love of pets and the relevance of the Petland brand and of our proprietary operating model which focuses on the human-animal bond and matching the right pet with the right person."

International growth at Petland has been at a record high. The franchise has quality, full service retail pet centers across the United States, Canada, China, Mexico, South Africa, Brazil and El Salvador. Petland Brazil opened its 64th Petland location this month and Petland Mexico opened its ninth and tenth locations this year. Petland master franchisees in Saudi Arabia are planning the opening of their first location in September.

"Our master franchise partners from around the world execute the Petland systems at a high level,” said Steve Huggins, Petland, Inc.'s vice president of business development. “We're excited about the future as we continue to work with new candidates from around the world."

In conducting its rating of franchises around the world, Entrepreneur considers numerous factors including the company's Franchise 500 ranking, which determines a score based on financial strength, stability, growth rate and size of the franchise system. The Franchise 500 ranking is then compared with international size and growth of the franchise to determine the global rank.
