Primera Technology Unveils New Edible Ink Printer

Published:

Primera Technology revealed the Eddie, a NSF and GMP-certified edible ink printer.

The Eddie prints full-color photographs and text directly onto the surface of cookies, lollipops or other suitable food items. Each cookie is automatically drawn into the printer one at a time, and the desired image is printed directly onto the surface of the item before the machine rotates it and feeds/prints the next cookie. Different tray templates will be available for various sized and shaped cookies and other foods.

The Eddie can print one cookie in 10 seconds or 12 in 2 minutes, and its images are smudge-resistant and color-match to ICC Color Standards. The printed cookies or other food items will be dry and ready for sale immediately after they’ve been printed. Frosted cookies and frosting kits are also available for purchase.

The print head and all inks are certified as GMP components. Eddie is also the first and only edible ink printer ever approved by NSF, a U.S.-based company that certifies hundreds of thousands of items used in food preparation, including tables, cookware, machines and other devices for use in food service.
