Retailer Excellence at Global Pet Expo

Ten of the pet industry's best and brightest retailers will be honored at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., during Global Pet Expo.

With just a little more than two months left before the 2016 edition of Global Pet Expo kicks off at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. (March 16-18, 2016), just about everyone in the industry is working hard on their final preparations for the show. For retailers, this should of course include things like making travel arrangements and compiling a list of exhibiting vendors that you want to be sure to see at the show.

However, there is one more thing every pet store owner and operator should do over the next couple of weeks that is sure to make your experience at Global Pet Expo even more exciting: nominate your business for a Retailer Excellence Award.

Presented by Pet Business magazine and the organizers of Global Pet Expo, the Retailer Excellence Awards are designed to honor outstanding independent pet stores in a variety of categories, including:

Best Overall Single-Store Retailer: Recognizes a single-store retailer that excels in sales, customer service, store design, merchandising and community service.  

Best Overall Multi-Unit Retailer (2-10 stores): Recognizes multi-unit retailers with between two and 10 stores that excel in sales, customer service, store design, merchandising and community service.  

Best Overall Multi-Unit Retailer (10 or more stores): Recognizes multi-unit retailers with 10 or more stores that excel in sales, customer service, store design, merchandising and community service.  

Best Live Animal Retailer Award: Thiis award recognizes a retailer that excels overall in sales, customer service, store design, merchandising and community service. Nominees should also provide a clean, safe and professional environment for customers and employees while demonstrating care, concern and knowledge of companion animals.  

Best Merchandising Award: Recognizes a retailer that demonstrates outstanding creative techniques to promote sales and services. 

Multi-Service Excellence Award: Recognizes a retailer that effectively offers a broad spectrum of services including grooming, training, boarding, etc. 

Best Marketing Award: Honors a retailer that effectively executes sales and promotional techniques to increase sales and customers including the use of advertising, public relations, social media and more. 

Best Customer Service Award: Recognizes a retailer that provides an unmatched level of customer service, demonstrates familiarity with products and services, etc.  

Best Store Design Award: Honors a retailer that demonstrates excellence in overall store design including merchandising displays, store layout, curb appeal and more.  

Best Community Service Award: Recognizes a retailer that demonstrates fellowship, integrity and a clear demonstration that the store is committed to giving back to the community. 

The Retailer Excellence Awards will be awarded to one independent pet retailer in each of the 10 categories listed above. Nominations must be received by Feb. 1, 2016, and may be submitted via email at mdavid@petbusiness.com or faxed to: 646-674-0102. Entries will be judged by a committee consisting of Global Pet Expo and Pet Business media staff members, as well as a panel of select retailers. The winners will be announced during the Show's Pet Industry Breakfast held on March 17, 2016, at 8:00 a.m. at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
