The Pet Sustainability Coalition Delays Recycling Program Launch Date

The Pet Sustainability Coalition and project partners Earth Animal and Petfood Experts delayed the launch of the Flex Forward program.

Flex Forward is a pilot program aimed at testing the success of a national recycling program for pet food and treat packaging. The COVID-19 pandemic created logistical issues in hindering collection—if the initiative begins before pet stores are reporting pre-coronavirus numbers, the results will be skewed in terms of collection rates and customer participation.

When launched, the pilot program will allow retailers to offer a zero-cost, in-store recycling solution for all types and brands of packaging to their customers.
