Owls, toads, rats and cats may be the favored pets of Hogwarts students, but fans of the magical series are apparently dog people according to a new survey.

The study, conducted by custom furniture retailer Joybird, asked 400 participants about their pet preferences, as well as their Hogwarts House results from the Pottermore Sorting Hat Quiz (Ravenclaw, Slytherin, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff).

The report found that more than 50 percent of all Hogwarts houses chose dogs over cats. However, Ravenclaw (known for its love of knowledge) had the highest concentration of cat lovers, at 41 percent, followed closely by Slytherin, at 40 percent. On the other side of the spectrum, only 30 percent of Hufflepuffs—the house of the protagonist of the Fantastic Beasts movies, Newt Scamader—said they preferred felines.

As for the house of Harry Potter himself? Gryffindors are firmly dog people. Approximately 63 percent of the bravest house ranked dogs as their top choice, and only 36 said they liked cats best.
