Tom Nieman, owner of Fromm Family Foods, was named the U.S. Small Business Administrations' Wisconsin Small Business Person of the Year.
Nieman guided his Mequon, Wis.-based company through a major expansion with Small Business Administration (SBA)-backed financing, which resulted in the addition of 60 jobs and doubled revenues over a three-year period.
Fromm—with the support of Wisconsin Business Development Corporation and BMO Harris Bank—was able to renovate an idle feed mill property in Columbus, Wis., and build new buildings for meat processing and extrusion. The new factory opened in late 2011.
SBA Wisconsin will honor Nieman and Fromm at its 28th Annual SBA Awards Breakfast on May 31.
