Pets Add Life Calls for Children's Poetry
August 30, 2013

Pets Add Life (PAL) is once again calling on creative and pet-loving kids for its 6th Annual Pets Add Life Children's Poetry Contest. Students in grades 3-8 are encouraged to write poems about the joys and benefits of owning pets of all types.

"After receiving more than 1,500 entires during our last contest, we look forward to continuing the momentum in our sixth year and hope to encourage even more students to participate," said Bob Vetere, president of The American Pet Products Association (APPA).

Teachers within the contest grade levels are welcome to incorporate this national contest into their lesson plans, and submit poems in one entry on behalf of their classroom.

One student from each grade level nationwide will win a $250 gift certificate for pet products and a by-line in a nationally circulated publication or online outlet. In addition, the six winning students' classrooms will each win a $1,000 scholarship to spend on pet-related education or to support a classroom pet.

PAL will begin accepting entries Sept. 1—Jan. 31, 2014 through its Facebook page [link], on its website or final poems and submission forms can be mailed to:
