It may tear families asunder, but Kitten Bowl is a go. The Hallmark Channel, in association with the North Shore Animal League, is presenting the first-ever Kitten Bowl, a three-hour special airing on Super Bowl Sunday. And it may leave some households torn between watching a football field full of kittens on Hallmark or the rough-and-tumble puppies playing the field on Animal Planet’s perennial hit, the Puppy Bowl.
Kitten Bowl, however, may be a strong contender in the battle for viewers, with its long list of celebrity guests. Beth Stern, TV personality and animal advocate—and wife of TV mega-personality Howard Stern—will host the event. John Sterling, the official radio voice of the New York Yankees and Emmy-winning host of Yankeeography and Yankees Classics on the YES Network, will be the official play-by-play announcer. He will be joined by TV host and former Denver Broncos cheerleader Renée Herlocker.
The star power continues from there. Viewers can expect to see Regis Philbin, Rachael Ray, Hoda Kotb, Lisa Vanderpump, Bob Harper, Chuck Nice, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Carrie Ann Inaba, Nicky Hilton, Kelly Rutherford, Aiden Turner, Cory Kalanick and Julian Starks.
And Hallmark promises more stars to come. Still, will all those powerful personalities and adorable kittens be enough to compete with the Puppy Bowl’s ever-growing popularity. Is there room for both?
