Real Housewives Star Says Goodbye to Beloved Dog

While I’ve never been a huge fan of Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise, I do have a soft spot for the New Jersey cast. I, too, hail from the suburbs in the tri-state area, making this cast the most relatable to me. Of all of the families involved, the Manzos are hands-down my favorite; Caroline is what I consider to be a very honest portrayal of a loving, if slightly smothering, Italian mother, and her kids are entertaining without being obnoxious.

While I admittedly stopped watching after the 4th season (I just couldn’t take anymore of the Guidices, their toxic energy was seeping through the TV screen), I still like hearing about the Manzo family as if they were family friends that I simply lost touch with. I’m not kidding; when I read that Caroline’s daughter Lauren got engaged to her boyfriend Vito last month I thought, “Well, it’s about time,” like I knew her—a totally normal reaction. And when Caroline announced that she would be leaving RHONJ to do a spin-off after the season-five reunion show aired, I thought, “Yes, this is for the best.”

So, when I read Caroline’s tweet about the loss of her dog, Austin, on Christmas, I genuinely felt bad for her and her family. On Thursday, the reality TV star posted two pictures of her three kids, Lauren, Albie and Christopher, with their beloved pup to her official website and tweeted “Dogs are FAMILY...rest in peace, Austin. We all love and miss you.”

It’s a difficult time of year to lose a pet, and we send our condolences to the Manzos on the loss of Austin.
