Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy has been doing more than just skiing in Sochi, he’s also been receiving some positive press for his foreign relations breakthroughs. We’re not talking about scoring political points with President Putin; we’re talking about some good, old-fashioned puppy love.
Last Tuesday, Kenworthy posted a pic of himself and a puppy he found in Sochi with the caption, “Oh my glob, look who I just found! :) #sochistrays” followed by another photo of him with three more dogs (for a total of four) with the caption, “puppy love is real to puppies.” The Twitterverse responded with a collective, “awwwwww.” The puppies in Kenworthy’s arms look happy and healthy – and they may even get to stay with him.
On Wednesday he gave an update via Twitter, “Also, for the people wondering, I've lined up kennels 4 the pups & made vaccination appointments. Doing all I can to bring them home w/ me!” And he posted again on Saturday, sharing a picture of the puppies enjoying some grub. While Kenworthy doesn’t say if he will keep them for himself, it could mean that they’ll at least have a ride back to the States. I doubt that it will be difficult to find forever homes for these now-famous fur babies. Maybe Kenworthy will even come visit in the off-season.
