The Fastest Growing Dog-Friendly Cities in the U.S. for 2022

There are many considerations involved in deciding what state and city to reside in. Some of the basics include cost of living, job market and career opportunity, climate, and proximity to family and friends to name a few. Additionally, the pandemic has made the housing market one where the only constant is change.

When it comes to dog owners and people who plan to eventually welcome a pup into their family,  planning a move will usually consist of figuring out how dog-friendly the area is that they plan to call home. In fact, Rover and Zillow recently teamed up to conduct a study which found that 72 percent of dog parents say they would move to better accommodate their dog’s needs, and 87 percent are willing to spend more when buying or renting a home to get more pet-friendly features such as a fenced yard, doggy door or proximity to a dog park.

Additionally, the survey found that among dog parents who have moved since the pandemic began, 45 percent intentionally purchased or rented a bigger or more expensive home for the sake of their dog’s happiness. Sixty-one percent of pet parents even indicated their dog’s happiness and wellbeing is what inspired them to move.
