Andis Company welcomed two professional grooming experts to its Andis Animal Education team. 

Phil Shafmayer NCMG (U.S.) and Joyce Oliveira (Brazil) join Andis’ elite group of grooming specialists who bring world-class expertise to the company’s mission of providing animal grooming education resources globally.

Shafmayer has been a professional pet stylist since 1997 as well as a professional all breed AKC handler for over 18 years, successfully campaigning some of the top dogs in the country in various breeds. He worked as the former director of Canine Clippers School of Dog Grooming in Dumfries, Va. and became a certified master groomer with NDGAA. His other accolades include Best in Show and Best All Around Groomer at NEPGP 2017his very first competitionas well as the same award at NEPGP in 2018. Additionally, Schafmayer made the GroomTeam USA Top 10 in 2017 and 2018, earning him the spot of GroomTeam USA World Travel Team alternate. During his first full year competing in 2019, he finished as No. 1 groomer in GroomTeam USA points and was Barkleigh’s Groomer of the Year.

Since beginning her grooming career in 2005, Oliveira has sought out courses, workshops and specialty seminars to further her expertise. In 2010, she opened her own grooming salon and in 2016, participated in her first grooming competition—the Japanese Grooming category at Groom Brasil—where she earned first place. Oliveira was later awarded the Shirley Kalstone award in 2018, which honored her growth, education and camaraderie in the grooming industry on an international level. In 2019, Oliveira was named Groomer Reference Hydra by Pet Society. Today, Oliveira is a member of the International Groomer Association and has worked as a Master Groom Brazil judge for two years.
