Pet Business magazine has named the 54-store EarthWise Pet retail and service franchise as its 2021 Retailer of the Year. Led by CEO Michael Seitz, EarthWise Pet chain launched in 2011, and is a sister chain to the Nature’s Pet Market regional franchise located in the Pacific Northwest. The brand focuses on a mix of premium retail and service offerings, including natural and sustainable pet care products, grooming and self-wash stations, and nutritional counseling from Certified Pet Dietitians.
“Michael Seitz and his team have built EarthWise Pet into one of the country’s leading pet retail and service chains by taking the intimacy and passion of a local, owner-operated business and combining it with the vision and resources of a centralized organization made up of pet retail experts,” said Mark Kalaygian, publishing director and editor in chief of Pet Business. “Because of this balance, EarthWise Pet has been able to more than double in size over the past four years and serves as a great example of what neighborhood pet stores can accomplish with the right mix of products, marketing strategies and customer engagement.”
As the 2021 Retailer of the Year, EarthWise Pet will be the subject of an in-depth profile in the August issue of Pet Business. Seitz and the EarthWise Pet team will also be honored next month at an invitation-only dinner reception that will be held during SuperZoo in Las Vegas.
